Aquarium tip of the day :food

Most aquarium fish food sold is of the dry variety … in some cases freeze dried where such things as brine shrimp or daphnia are concerned.

These dry foods can be pellets or flakes or tablets. Some foods are designed to sink to accomodate bottom feeding species of fish.

Often foods for specific species are available which cater to the specific nutritional needs of certain types of fish. Betta food for example.

None of this is regulated but for the most part the quality of the food is nutritionally excellent.

The basic rule to follow when feeding your fish .. is to keep them hungry. That does not mean to starve them. But feed them sparingly and in small increments.

The protein content of dry foods is very high, so a little food goes a long way.

A healthy fish is a hungry fish.
